We believe that all of our patients deserve the most advanced cosmetic dentistry techniques and procedures, performed with the most cutting edge technology.
When patients arrive for a dental exam, they seldom have a clear idea of the actual status of their dental health. Even with lights and mirrors, it's tough to see anything but the front or segments of the back and side areas of your teeth. We utilize a state-of-the-art intra-oral camera to make your visit quick, comfortable, and informational. Our cosmetic dentists will use a pen sized camera-tipped wand to record the images to a computer. As the wand is passed over your teeth, it takes a video of the inside of your mouth. Both you and your cosmetic dentist will be able to view every detail of your oral health.
Traditionally, dentists find out what's going on inside your mouth by taking a series of x-rays, developing them, and then examining them on a special light board. Digital radiography allows us to place a tiny sensor into your mouth that acts like a miniature VCR camera. As a result of this new technology, our patients benefit from:
- Up to 80% less radiation than with traditional x-ray techniques.
- A highly detailed image that is translated onto our computer screen, carrying with it all the conveniences of other digitized images: it can be rotated, magnified, and even color-coded for educational purposes.
- Easy and efficient storage of images in our computer files, eliminating paper files as well as image wear and tear.
Air Abrasion & Drill-less dentistry
This unit is used in our office every day, and it makes our guests smile because it allows us to treat small cavities quickly and comfortably. It eliminates the noise and vibration of a drill and feels like cool air blowing across the affected tooth. Anesthetic is not usually required.
Our doctors have taken the extra step to use water that has been highly filtered and distilled on site. This point-of-source water bottle is just ONE method we use to ensure that the water we use is clean and bacteria free to limit your exposure to infection.
We provide the convenience of one visit porcelain crowns with our CEREC 3D system. With this CAD/CAM (computer-assisted design/computer assisted manufacture) instead of having to wear temporary crowns for two to three weeks while a lab processes your crowns, we offer patients same-day creation and placement of your custom crowns.
Velscope Oral Cancer Screening Technology
Our doctors use VELscope, a flourescent screening device, for early detection of oral mucosal abnormalities, which includes oral cancer. In under two minutes, with no rinses or stains required, we can assess your overall oral health. Early detection is key to fighting oral cancer.
Soft Tissue Diode Laser
Our doctors specifically use the soft tissue diode laser in the treatment of gum disease. Lasers have been shown to destroyed infectious bacteria with focused light energy. Periodontal disease is caused by a bacterial infection. The use of the laser in the procedure will remove the bacterial microorganisms, and thus restore the tissue to health. Gingival (gum) tissue that has overgrown can be treated easily and without trauma using a soft tissue laser. For more information on overgrown gum tissue, please read our section on gummy smiles.
Laser use is widely accepted in the field of dentistry and offers the following benefits to patients in periodontal therapies. Lasers:
- Create a clear, dry area with no bleeding
- Decrease the possibility of infection
- Create less trauma to the area
- Produces minimum post-operative swelling and scaring
- Create minimal post-operative discomfort
- Require little or no anesthetic
- Are extremely precise and allow for a greater degree of finesse in both surgical and soft tissue procedures
- Result in a better post-operative patient experience
Endodontic, restorative, and implant/periodontal procedures are just some of the areas where a magnification system with special lighting would prove useful. Our doctors are able to magnify the procedure area to provide the best care and result for our patients.
Our doctors use the highly sophisticated Myotronics K7 jaw tracking system, to study the various positions of a patient's jaw when in motion and at rest. The scans / reports created by the K7 reveal many neuromuscular problems that affect a patient's bite, causing a great deal of pain and discomfort in the head, neck, and even in some other parts of the body. This technology helps solve these problems. After compiling the data and developing a treatment plan, many patients feel immediate relief. For additional information, please read our section on TMD/TMJ.
J-4 and J-5 Myomonitor
This innovative technology is a muscle-stimulating device that helps relax muscles with the use of electrical pulses. This provides accurate measurements of muscle activity, which is then fed into a computer program. The ultimate goal is to relax the muscles, freeing them from tension and pain, and allowing proper function when chewing, speaking, and even smiling. Tense muscles can cause head, neck, and back pain and this new technology may help relieve some of these symptoms. An orthotic may be constructed to fit over the teeth to help the muscles relax in the position as determined by the computer.
Today's digital photography technology offers significant advantages in the field of dentistry. We are glad to provide this service to our patients, which allows for a more comprehensive and informative consultation. In minutes, our doctors are able to:
- Provide more accurate color matching by taking an image of existing teeth and accurately comparing it to color samples for fabrication of porcelain veneers, dental crowns or dental bridges.
- Easily distribute images electronically to labs for specifying work on dental crowns, dental bridges, and porcelain veneers.
