Dentures and Partials

Complete dentures are used to replace teeth where there are no teeth remaining. A partial denture is a removable dental appliance that replaces multiple missing teeth. It can be attached to the teeth with clasps, or it can be attached to the teeth with crowns and bridges.

When you have missing teeth, it is important to replace them not only to maintain a healthy smile, but also to prevent the remaining ones from drifting into the empty space. Teeth that are out of position can:

• Damage tissues in the mouth
• Make it difficult to speak
• Increase risk of tooth decay
• Increase risk of gum disease
• Increase risk of further tooth loss
• Start the process that may lead to TMJ problems

A removable partial denture will fill in the space created by missing teeth and fill out your smile.

Both types of dentures will make it easier for you to chew, and will prevent a sagging face by supporting lips and cheeks.
