Porcelain veneers can solve a great many dental problems. If you have been feeling upset with your smile, because your teeth are worn or chipped, or because of discoloration, gaps, or crookedness, we at the Nu Smile Center For Aesthetic & Restorative Dentistry in Sacramento, California, can offer you an excellent type of porcelain veneers called Lumineers.

LUMINEERS® BY CERINATE®, as they’re called, are thinner than standard porcelain veneers. Cerinate is a proprietary porcelain used only at the Cerinate Smile Design Studio, which is where we will have your customized Lumineers made.

Little or no tooth preparation required

For traditional porcelain veneers, the tooth must be shaved down, to make room for the veneer. But with Lumineers, that isn’t necessary, because Lumineers are extra thin. They are often compared to contact lenses in their delicate thinness.

Thinness does not mean weakness however. Although all porcelain, by itself, is brittle, it is strong after it’s been bonded to the tooth. Tooth and veneer become one entity, with the veneer providing a new glossy surface, and the tooth supporting the veneer. Lumineers are no exception to this, and will give you many years of smile brightness. Your Lumineers will not become stained, and with good dental care
such as you give your natural teeth, will keep their
pearly-white sheen as good as new for many years.

A reversible procedure

Because Lumineers are just that bit thinner than standard porcelain veneers, and the tooth needs no shaving down, the whole procedure is reversible. The tooth behind the Lumineer is still intact.
